Welcome to
Mrs. Gold's Classroom!
This is the view from the door as you enter our classroom! I have my desks set up in tables, to allow for cooperative group work, as well as to create more space in the classroom. Homework-opoly- a classroom favorite! The children play this game every Friday if they've done their homework all week. They can win prizes, free homework passes, and collect Chance and Community Lunchbox cards! This is where all of the students' supplies are. The homework chart- this is where the children keep track of their complete/incomplete homework. They put stickers on each day that they do their homework. The writing process chart- each student moves their clips down the writing process, each time they change steps. I love sunflowers- so of course I have to show my favorite "Sunflower Table". In back of that, you can see the green science table, where we keep all of our science kit supplies and experiments. The Giving Tree- this is what it looks like in September. As the year progresses, students look for "good deeds" that others are doing and then they write these good deeds on a leaf, which we post to the tree. We share these leaves at Morning Meeting, to call positive attention to those who have done good things, and I reward not only the person who has done the good deed, but also the person who saw it happening and wrote the leaf. Here are the student computers. This is the Meteorologist Station. The Meteorologist of the day researches the weather of the current day and next day, and discusses what changes we should make to be prepared for the weather. Here is our mail center. Our "Mail Carrier" delivers the mail each day. Here are our class jobs. We have enough jobs for every single student to have a different responsibility each week. This is our classroom library. Books are color coded by genre or author. I have so many books because I was such a huge reader when I was younger. This is our calendar/Star Citizen bulletin board. The Star Citizen creates this bulletin board with facts about him or herself, as well as pictures. This is Beary- our beloved mascot! He travels home with the kids each weekend, and they write about their fun times with Beary in the journal! This is our carpet/meeting area. We meet here for Morning Meeting or Read Aloud. This is our "What do I do now?" poster- otherwise known as "The Poster". Kids ask, "What do I do now?" and I answer, "Go to the poster." The poster is a list of must do/can do work options for if the children finish early.
